Welcome Dr. Hilary Linton

I have told many of you the story about my initial goals upon completing dental school.  I was not as enamoured with the profession as many of my colleagues were and I had said I was going to work five years, pay off my student loans and find my true passion.  Thirty plus years later I am still practicing dentistry.  So what changed?  Along the way I discovered that my true passion was caring for and connecting with patients. It has been heart warming to watch and grow with you and your families. We have shared laughter and tears (all of course while performing dentistry) and I thank you for being very real with me. It is so hard to believe that I have owned my practice for twenty-five years. (We haven’t aged that much have we?)  Just as I eased into acquiring the practice from my predecessors, it is now time to transition into the next phase. After much consideration, I have decided to step down as the owner of the practice. I will be transferring ownership to Dr. Hilary Linton and will be staying on 1-2 days per week moving forward, starting September 2021.  It is with great pleasure that I introduce Dr. Linton to you, as she is a compassionate, competent dentist who shares my values in providing quality patient first care.

Dr. Linton has been practicing dentistry since 2013.  She grew up in the lower mainland before attending Duke University on an athletic scholarship. After graduating and playing for the Canadian National Field Hockey team, she attended Boston University to receive her D.M.D where she was the valedictorian of her class. This was followed by an elective one year surgical residency in Seattle. Subsequently she worked in the Okanagan and is now thrilled to settle on the island, closer to family and the ocean. In her free time, she enjoys outdoor adventures (hiking, biking, skiing, and motorcycling just to mention a few), listening to good music, and spending time with her family and dog Dexter.

Dr. Linton loves to provide patients with the best and most up to date treatment that not only focuses on oral health, but also contributes to overall whole-body wellness. She calls herself a continuing education keener who enjoys sharing dental knowledge with patients. She takes time explaining options thoroughly, having consideration for individual needs.

I am enclosing a letter from Dr. Linton. She is looking forward to meeting all of you and making your dental visits relaxed and enjoyable.

Dear patients of Dr. Christine Gaucher Family Dental,

I wanted to send a brief hello to let you know how incredibly excited I am to meet you all.

I have been looking for my dental home for a few years now - waiting for a practice that aligned with my dental philosophy and values. I am thrilled to have finally arrived. Yay!

I will be starting at the practice in September and feel honoured to be joining the team. I look forward to learning about you/your stories and doing my very best to help optimize your oral health experience and quality of life in the many years to come.

Have a wonderful BC day long weekend in this beautiful province we get to call home. I’m headed off to discover northern Vancouver Island on my honeymoon motorcycle road trip before we officially move to Victoria. See you soon,

Hilary

At this time I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Dr. Gord Jones, for coming out of retirement to work with me this past year. He covered Dr. Emma Marler’s maternity leave and was instrumental in helping us through a most challenging year. I know he is very much ready for what retirement brings.  Dr. Marler had a beautiful baby girl and is delighted with motherhood. She has moved out of Victoria and is enjoying the gulf island lifestyle.

You will continue to see the familiar faces of my amazing dental team.  I will be working Thursdays and Fridays as well as covering for Dr. Linton when she is away. I will complete any treatment plan already in progress myself. Together, Dr. Linton and I are excited to provide you with the utmost in dental care. I am confident you will enjoy her both as a person and as a dentist. She is truly lovely. Please join me in welcoming Dr. Hilary Linton, photographed below with husband Todd and dog Dexter.

Warmly,

Christine and the team
